I have really thick curly hair, and it's really annoying, what can I do?

When I straighten it, it looks fine, the same when I put on hair moose to make it curly. But when it is natural it is horrible. It is frizzy and I don' t know what to do. I had a fringe years ago, and I decided to let it grow out, and now it has stopped growing, but hasn't grown to full length, it's just stopped at my chin ((my hair is shoulder length)). I really don't know what to do. Anybody else in the same situation?? Or anybody got any style/product tips they could give me?? You would be doing me a huge favour, as I am kinda scared that when I move in with a boyfriend later in life and he see's my natural hair it will put him off. :(

Personally, my hair is very thin and wispy, which is as equally annoying as thick hair can be to some people.

Though I've found to prefer my natural hair as I don't like hair drying or straightening as it's so damaging.

You could get it thinned at the hair dressers or layered, (I'm not an expert) but mostly, I'd say not to worry about what a boyfriend will think.

When you're in a relationship, there are going to be an innumerable amount of things you'll find out about each other that you won't like and some you'll have to live with. So don' worry about that part! Relationships are give and take; you'll both be on equal footing with each other. He'll have bed head every day....*Laughs*

Anywhoozle, in the mean time, as someone suggested, why not get a new cut or style? You can also ring up the hair dressers and ask for a 10 minute consultency to find what suits you and what'll be easy to manage.

Don't worry too much, loads of people have this problem. I for one, would like thicker hair where I imagine you'd wish for thinner hair. We can't win! *Laughs*

Well if your boyfriend has a problem with your hair then he doesn't love you. I think that you need to go to a beautician and ask him/her what to do.

i have really thick curly hair as well...it sucks!!!!!...people always telling me that they love it straight but they don't know how much work it is to keep it straight and to get it like that.....just keep it natural.....after you wash it apply mouse ...i love how it leaves my hair and condition your hair once in awhile you know with those leave in treatments

get yourself a good hairdresser! My hair is a nightmare - thick, curly (but the benefits are that rain bounces off for ages before it soaks any of the water in!!) Frizzease is quite good - try changing your shampoo to a different one. My full sympathy coz I'm in the same situation - and can't grow it long. Mousse does nothing for my hair - just leaves it sticky. Chemical straighteners at the hairdressers work for a while, and because it pulls the weight of the hair down, it looks longer!!

Oh and don't go near hairdressers that are too newly qualified - they are terrified of thick curly hair, and I've had a ton of nightmare haircuts because of them!!

Don't worry about moving in with a guy - you'll see his bad habits as well!!!!

I would kill to have thick curly hair! If you want, get a haircut and talk to a hairdresser about it, but you could also try a non- frizz serum or something to tame your hair! Don't straighten it too much, or else you'll frazzle your hair!

You will do yourself a huge favor by finding the path of least resistance with you hair. Find someone with curly hair like yours, but that you think looks good and find out how they care for it. You will spend countless hours and dollars fighting your natural hair or you can find a way to make it work. Just remember, there are tons of people who would KILL for hair like yours. If your hair is unmanageably thick, you can find a stylist who can give a cut that thins it out. Again try to get recommendations from people who have hair you like or call around to salons to find someone who specializes in your hair type.

Haha =] shave it off lol nah... iv heard that you can get your hair chemically straightened now. it's like the opposite of a perm... i think they straighten your hair then put on the same type of chemical as they do with a perm... im not sure how long it lasts though!

I have thick, curly, frizzy hair too! It seems like there is nothing you can do.. but if you put some thick, smoothing serum in when its wet, it kind of helps with the friz, as for the curly thickness that seems to look like an afro, there realy is nothing you can do.. I have sorta learned to live with mine, If your worried about your boyfriend, shower in the morning, braid your hair at night, but if he really loves you, your frizzy untamable hair won't matter!

Get a blowdryer with a comb attatchment (Try the brand Yellow Bird..should be available and Sallys Beauty Supply) they get HOT!

Also buy hair oil/no frizz oil, you only have to use a couple of drops to add shine and to help the blow dryer get it STRAIGHT (not sticky grease or moose) and you might not have to flat iron/press it after you use that...

just be grateful for beautiful hair as once you get older you will loose quite a lot and then you will be devastated. Just keep it conditioned and brush it a lot to keep it glossy and your boyfriend will Adore it .Think of him running his fingers through dry knotty ,hair sprayed hair and then think of your natural glossy beautiful hair. I have the same hair... don't cut it any shorter or else it will puff out... let it grow and then go to a hairdresser who is familiar with curly hair and who won't be afraid to put some layers in it. I like Frizz Ease mousse and Crazy Sexy Curly!

My hair is thick, curly and frizzy too so I know how you feel! I have a bit of a fringe and it helps my hair look nicer. When I leave my hair natural, I usually have it in a messy bun at the back (its so much easier to do one when you have curly hair!). I straighten it often and people say that it looks nice but they don't realise how long it takes to get it like that and it never stays straight anyway. I think you should be pround of you curls. I try to even though they get annoying! Your boyfriend shouldn't care if your natural hair is frizzy or not.
