My hair gets VERY knotty - I use the Pantene spray, but I notice that when I go to a salon whatever they use usually seems to work much better...

Well, I don't think there is one. But I have a shampoo %26amp; conditioner that pretty much does the same. It's 'Straighten Up' by SUNSILK. My hair is wavy and curly, so trust me it works.

Check out "Infusion" or "infusium" something like that. It's a line of different ones for different types of hair, but you can leave it in and it works great. You can get it at any major drugstore

Try detangling your hair in the shower when you are conditioning your hair. This really helps out. I find the leave in conditioner made my Garnier works really well. I have thick curly hair. This works really well for me.

buy what ever they use on you at the hair salon. it may be more expensive then what you usually buy, but if it works, it's worth it.

personal recommendation: Matrix sleek conditioner. you rinse it out, but it detangles great, or paul mitchel leave in conditioner.

IF YOU WANT SOFT HAIR DO THIS:

I DO THIS TO MY HAIR AND IT LOOKS SO NATURAL AND TAME.

YESSS I HAVE OVERDONE-COLOR-TREATED HAIR (REALLY DRY AND FRIZZY)!

go to wal mart and you can by "GARNIER FRUCTiS SLEEK%26amp;SHINE ANTI-FRIZZ SERUM" (it comes in a green round ball with a soap-like dispenser)

after you wash hair with the oh so silkening "Dove moisturinging shampoo and conditiner, towel dry hair is its still damp. rub a SMALL amount (size of a quarter) onto palms then into hair. then let it airdry until its FULLY dried.

after that you can straighten hair with a straighten iron by itself with no chemicals and it will come out AWESOME!

I have long, thick hair as well. I use a leave in conditioner by matrix- biolage. It'll make your hair extremely soft, and totally tangle free! :-) It's in a white bottle, with a green leaf on it. You can find it at target. I hope that helps! :-)

Well detanglers are a bandaid for your hair. You need to protein and moisturize. Big difference in conditioners and moisture, coating the hair is not the answer need to fix then you can apply S Factor products!
