yes, relaxers do work. your hair is getting frizzy because of the tension when using the iron often and the heat and your hair just can't take much more. try a deep conditioning treatment and let your hair alone for a month or two--you know give it a break, and then get your hair professionally so you know it will be done right

Look into the Japanese Straightening Perm. I have had friends that have had it done, and their hair looks soft, shiny and fabulous. As a plus, it is also supposed to NOT damage your hair.

I would strongly advise to minimize the amount of heat you use on the hair. Flat irons and blow dryers mean nothing but damage. But I wouldn't jump straight for the chemicals just yet sweetie, cause your hair needs a bit of repair.

You may want to look into some professional hair care products. Biolage fortetherapie Fortifying Shampoo and Conditioner are made with Ceramide, which repairs weak spots in the hair created by heat damage. They also have a Leave-In Conditioner. These products ROCK! You can find these products at any Regis Salon or Trade Secret location.

Use these products for a few weeks, then see the condition of your hair. Notice the difference in strength and elasticity. Then, when your hair is stronger (give at least one month), then consider chemicals.

But remember; NEVER, EVER use chemicals on already damaged hair!!! That is a fashion no-no!!

Hope that helps!

What I have found is that alott of people do not know how to properly use a flat iron. A good, ceramic iron, if used properly should not cause damage to your hair. Metal ones are a no no.

You should ALWAYS use a protectant product before straightening. When you use your straightener use quick, small strokes on your hair working your way down the strand of hair. You can repeat until the strand is straightened.

NEVER iron your hair slowly. That is when you get damage.

Take a month or so to re-condition your hair with professional re-conditioning treatments then consider a Japanese Thermal Straightning System. I realize that you are probabaly not in my area but I have information that you may find interesting on my website about Japanese Theremal Straightning http://absolutstyle.tripod.com

Good luck

if your hair is already damaged from heat and stying appliences, you do not wat to do a chemical straighter in it, it will only make it dries and more brittle. get your ends trimmed every 6-8 weeks, use deep penetrating conditioners, also invest in the products formulated especially for heat. Sally's beauty supply has many you can purchase that work really well

You may not need a relaxer get yourself a pair of CHI curling irons. they make your hair straight smooth and no frizz at all. If you have a relaxer you can still get frizz. Try Chi curling irons first. Avoid the chemicals if you can.

amazon dot com has them and JCPenny
