Just so you know,m you should regulary trim the bottom one inche every 2-3 months. If it thinning at the bottom especially, you might wanna consider like 4 inches off.
If you want a drastic change, you should go for medium length hair.

Layering the hair would increase movement making it look even thicker.I would suggest having it razor cut or professionally thinned out .Razor cutting it would leave it almost feathery like as apposed to blunt cutting it.

It might be envy, or it might be that they just don't understand, or haven't any sense of personal style. I think very long hair is a show stopper! Especially if it is in very good condition.
(And thats not because my hair is very long, because for several years now it has been just below shoulder length - but I think very long hair is lovely.)
Of course how she has her hair is totally up to her, but as long as she feels good about it, I think she could keep it long. Just have it trimmed every couple of months to keep it in good condition.
It is hard work looking after very long hair, especially as it is very thick (she is lucky!!) but she could wear it in a lot of different styles.

So you can be creative %26amp; play around with it. Also, some kind of razor cut to soften the look of the ends would be nice. Added color enhances these syles.
